The proposed Swift Wind Farm is an 8MW scheme capable of generating sufficient renewable electricity to meet the average annual requirements of approximately 5,400 homes*. For comparison, this is equivalent to around 12 per cent of all the homes in the Rugby area.
The Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) refused the four turbine wind farm on 19 January 2016. Had it been approved, the wind farm would have delivered at least £1 million in local economic investment up to the first year of operation alone.
